Frank Tornoe Music Bio 1975 - Takes up Sousaphone and joins Palmyra High School Marching Band, takes up Bass Guitar and forms rock band Eclipse 1978 - Exposed to various music forms via Diaspar, a radio show on FM WXPN University of Pennsylvania 1979 - Works at Sound Odyssey, a record store in the Cherry Hill Mall and begins amassing recordings heard on Diaspar such as Vangelis, Francois Breant, Jean Michel Jarre 1980s - Exposed to Synth-pop artists such as Thomas Dolby and New Age music artist Steve Roach. Frank became a computer programmer and with the introduction of the personal computer in 1984 he discovered composing on the PC with the first DAW being Cakewalk on DOS recording on a Tascam cassette based multi-track recorder. Frank began composing his own electronic music using both digital synthesizers such as the Yamaha DX-100 as well as the analog Moog Multimoog. 1990s - Moves from South Jersey / Philadelphia area to Chapel Hill North Carolina. Forms Electric Bluegrass Band - Betsy In The Gene Pool which afforded the opportunity to play in various venues in North Carolina including the Fremont in Charlotte as well as a showcase in Nashville. Frank After Betsy in the Gene Pool joined the Bluecats, a busy Blues-Rock Band. 2000s - Moved to Hillsborough, NC and built a home studio in a 2-car garage naming it Chasing Light Studio. Frank migrated from Cakewalk to Acid Pro and migrated from hardware based to computer plugin based synthesizers. Over the 17 years in Hillsborough, Frank participated in several Ambient based Synth jams with Ted Johnson at his Studio 713. 2012 - Moved to Bisbee, NC. Joined local band Buzz and the Soul Senders as their bassist. Currently plays bass with Rock band One Ghost and Folk group The Panther Band. Actively collaborates with local composer Carolyn Toronto. Continues to create Ambient Electronic music in his home studio and has performed his compositions several times to this day.
